Hi everyone - can anyone help please !!!
206 cc 2.0 52 plate (60k)
Car went in for MOT (rotten back box and a tyre) on friday, drove back home, thought I had locked it up for the night (noticed the noise for armming alarm seemed different ? ) and on Sat morning, pressed button, opened doors and alarm went off. I got out and pressed button on key fob to lock car back up and start over again, but the door buttons just keep popping back up ???
The central locking was working fine prior before this.
The red button on the dash tries to lock the doors but the door buttons bounce straight back up again.
The drivers door will lock and unlock with the key and it also operates the lock on the the passenger door at the same time.
I tried locking / unlocking the passenger door with the key but the door will not lock. It seems to unlock the passenger door OK but not lock it, however I have never used the key in the passenger door before so I dont know if this is a new or existing problem, or if this is in fact correct.
The alarm seems to be working ok, it just went off when I opened the passenger door.
Also, just noticed the STOP light on the intrument cluster now lights up when I turn the engine on and it continues to flash and not go off !
I looked at the rear exhaust and it is really rotten - got a big hole in it about 6" x 1", would this cause the STOP light to come on - but then again, the exhaust back box must have been like this for some time and it is only now the STOP has started flashing on.
Anybody got any ideas please.....

Re: doors wont lock !!
the backbox will not affect any electrics at all just noisey
do all your doors and boot lid close properly with nothing trapped as some cars wont lock unlees doors are completely closed
will the doors lock manually and do the lock buttons on top of the doors go down ok

Hi
Thanks for looking.
when the key is in the drivers door, both driver and passenger doors lock and unlock and the door buttons go up and down.
when key is in passenger door it will unlock the passenger door but not lock it (dont know if this might be normal, or if not, if this is a longstanding issue (never put the key in the passenger door before)'
Boot seems to unlock with the key (have always had to use the key to unlock the boot)
Hope this makes it a bit clearer.
I have sprayed some WD40 into the locks but made no difference.

Re: doors wont lock !!
The faulty exhaust may be affecting the exhaust emissions and if the sensors are picking this up that may be causing the STOP signal.
It sounds to me as if you need a new central locking door actuator. A fairly common fault. The question is, which one?..... the one in the driver's door, or the one in the passenger door? My guess would be the driver's side door, but I haven't worked out the electrical logic to convince myself 100%.

Here's the logic from another forum:
http://forums.preloved.co.uk/fuseaction ... 778ac.html
see message 2 and ignore the bit about the rear doors, 206cc's don't have rear doors.

Hi there
Thanks everyone for your help.
I was going to take car back to MOT station to see if they might have done something but this morning went to the car and it all seems to be back to normal !?1?1?
Got my fingers crossed that it stays that way.
Wierd or what ??

Re: doors wont lock !!
Even though this is an old thread i thought i'd offer up a soloution in case other members have the same problem.
I Had this happen-lock car with the key fob but locks kept popping up & alarm bleeped. Turns out it was the boot latch inside the boot (the boot previously needed a good hard SLAM to shut). All i had to do was adjust the latch inside the boot, there are two star head screws, loosen them & adjust the latch up or down.Half tighten each time & check the boot shuts ok then when it does tighten them up. It not only fixed the popping up door locks it also fixed the roof which previously didnt work!!!
