i have a 1.6 and it does the same thing
the engine is very sluggish when cold and sometimes when accelerating it feels like it's too slow to pick up
you press the gas
then a few seconds later it starts accelerating
i heard if you have it chipped it's much smoother.

i just did them 2 days ago! i got the ones from richbrook that have a little red LED that blinks with my alarm they look good but they were not easy to install you have to cut the original ones off and the metal stalk they are attached to is very tough. and you have to cut them as they are molded on...

i keep all the car cleaning stuff there
the interior spray cleaner and some clean cloth towels and a sponge. thought of using it as a port for the sub, but realised the sound would make the cover vibrate and there are already 2 decent sized holes behind each seat so no need. an umbrella sounds good!

The best option but the most time conusming is what i did i wired the sony controller to the factory stalk there are 4 points in the factory stalk that control Vol + and Vol - Track + and Track - i just soldered those to the same point on the sony one works perfectky and no battery drain as the sony...
