When was the timing belt and water pump last renewed? Should be every 80,000 miles or 8 years, whichever comes first.

Are you sure that what your garage is recommending isn't the routine timing belt and pulleys renewal that should be carried out every 8 years or 80,000 miles? If this isn't done then you risk catastrophic engine failure when the timing belt snaps. It is normal to renew the water pump at the same tim...
