A quick tip for squeeky door check straps and other bits too, get a spray can of motorcycle chain lube (you can get it in clear if you get PJ1) Give it a good shake and squirt away, it dries quick and the clear one almost dissapears unlike copper slip or grease

We use 3M double sided tape at work and this stuff sticks like smelly stuff to a blanket, if you are worried about it coming off get a roll of this.

We have found some on Ebay, £45 for all three rods, new ones made from stainless steel.
I will let you know if they are any good when they are fitted
