An update for anybody who has a similar problem:

The AA came out and did a diagnostics on it and found out that it was the ignition coil. Cost £164.

People are definitely jealous. I listen to people mocking and then watch them get into their boring 'grandad' cars.

I have no regrets getting the car and it is great fun to drive.
