Re: YAY! Through Another MOT
I managed to get my 52 plate through MOT this week too. It didn't fail on anything, and I did no preparation. Due to shielding and lockdown, the poor thing had only done 60 miles since the last test! Regarding radius arms - is that front, or rear? If front, then treat them like tyres - always repla...

Re: YAY! Through Another MOT
Watch the suspension arm .. it may be wise to change it sooner rather than later. Our 206 had one where the ball joint came out of the arm .. which isn't the greatest way to arrive in an Esso petrol forecourt!! Pretty excessive negative camber too!! And the arms are the GTI version .. fit standard ...

Re: 206cc, 2.0 - Airbag fault
I had this problem with my 206cc recently (again). Here's what we did: Took the switch assembly out from under the seat. Made sure all the connections were good. DO NOT SWITCH ON THE IGNITION BEFORE DOING THIS. Checked all the fuses were properly seated. Above the fusebox and to the left of the stee...

YAY! Through Another MOT
Well, my old girl, 2L 206cc, 52 plate passed another MOT :excite: She did need a few repairs this time namely: Track rod Windscreen washers needed blasting through (cap had fallen off and debris got in) Several lightbulbs failed or colours faded Surprisingly, the exhaust failed. It was a new exhaust...

Re: Servicing Question
I'd need to read the handbook (which is in the 206 and not accessible at the moment) but it can be reset by holding one of the dash buttons down - I'd need the manual to remind me which one but I think the left) and turning on the ignition I think. It then counts down for 10 secs ... then you can r...

Re: Servicing Question
Since the "wear and tear" on the engine oil arises mainly from starting from cold, and less from mileage, that behaviour is not unreasonable. Btw, I have never heard of a car failing to start because the servicing notification was ignored - what made you think it would? Can't remember who told me t...

Servicing Question
First, I hope everyone is well and coping with the lockdown. I have a strange question about the countdown to servicing. My car has been counting down 50 miles every time I start her up. For example two days ago it was reading 500 miles until service. Today it was 450 miles and the little spanner is...

Re: New Message on Screen?
The interior fuse box was hanging loose and some of the fuses weren't seated right. Pushed them down firmly and put the fusebox back where it was supposed to be. Friend of a friend is a mechanic so I'll get him to have a look when he's not too busy. Interior of car heats up quickly and any ice on th...

Re: New Message on Screen?
Thanks Ian. The handbrake on message was probably a glitch but nice to know it comes on. Not the first time in my old Corsa I didn't take the handbrake off properly :hmm: The roof not "dinging" doesn't bother me as it's obvious by the clunk that it's fully down. Same on the way back up. Take the key...

New Message on Screen?
My car popped up a message on the screen yesterday I haven't seen before. I'd just put on the handbrake when parking for the night and it said "Handbrake On". The message was gone in seconds. First time I've seen that and it hasn't done it today. Couple of things that don't work. The CD changer in t...

Re: Two Electrical Questions
Result. Mine due start of next month. Not looking forward to it!! I know that feeling only too well but I was very pleasantly surprised this time. I also stayed with the car throughout the test. First time I've seen the computerised MOT. Had a good look underneath her as well. All looks good undern...

Re: Two Electrical Questions
UPDATE:
Car passed the MOT with flying colours. All that needed replacing was an indicator bulb as one was the wrong colour and the little one on the wing. Mechanic replaced one of the number plate lights while he was at it.
One very happy bunny here.

Two Electrical Questions
First is how do you change the bulb on the wing tracer please? Second is, noticed in the boot, nearside there's a squarish hole in the interior trim. It had a wire poking out. Fished it out and it is a smallish white connector. Wondering what this could attach to and wondering if this is the reason ...
