Re: Panic level alarm beeping, Head lights On Off Intermitte

Ok guys. Today I noticed that if I push the turn indicator/head lamp stalk back (opposite to the usual pass action to flash the heads) the problem disappears totally. Think It's something to do with a loose connection, dry contact points, etc. Will remove the unit and inspect tomorrow. will get a co...

Re: Panic level alarm beeping, Head lights On Off Intermitte

Ok. I think I made a mistake about the BSI in my first post :| The electronics unit inside the engine bay on the passenger side, I guess that must be the engine management unit, which I mistook as the BSI. Because I saw in another post, that said, the BSI unit is attached to the internal fuse panel...

Re: Panic level alarm beeping, Head lights On Off Intermitte

Thanks IanL for your reply. Have to try with a scrap yard then. I believe new keys will have to be programmed to the new BSI? or as you say I have to get the matching keys for the BSI. I was thinking please don't be anything with the electronics and it could be any sensor or some microswitch/reed sw...

Re: Panic level alarm beeping, Head lights On Off Intermitte

Also I just noticed, When the ign. key turned off after running the engine or if kept in 'ON' position, then switched to accessory position, after a delay of 35 seconds, I can hear a relay being switched inside the internal fuse box every couple of seconds. I could physically feel the trigger when I...

Ok No problem. I'll use my pro equipment to record the sounds and dub it to the video.
I do sound engineering as part of my profession.

But I'm sure nothing like listening to it live.

Re: Engine cranking, no start, cam sprockets not turning

You should of changed waterpump as well (best practice) It may have been the pump that caused the last belt to fail. That noise needs to be sorted asap. Thank you. Yes I know about the water pump. It says everywhere, and even you guys told me specifically about it. Not using the car now until it ge...

Capncol wrote:Your video sounds like a belt problem. When you replaced the belt, did you replace the pulleys, tensioners and waterpump?
Except for the water pump, the idle pulley, tensioner and belt all new from dealer.

Re: Engine cranking, no start, cam sprockets not turning

Hi guys, little information help. I need to know if there is a gasket for the frame that fastens the cam shafts to the head. (not for the top plastic covers). When I removed it initially, there was only some sort of sealant (possibly silicon) applied around the mating surfaces. I was surprised why t...

Re: Engine cranking, no start, cam sprockets not turning

Did you carry out an oil change as part of your overhaul? Are you sure you have the head gasket the right way round, right way up? It looks like you have water and oil leaks, the water going into the oil will cause the emulsion that you see No I haven't done the oil change yet. Yes. In the gasket i...

Re: Engine cranking, no start, cam sprockets not turning

If it's stuck ... it's stuck. You probably won't fix it. BUT .. most modern thermostats stick OPEN not shut. That way if they do fail you just run cool not hot and overheat .. If the top hose is swollen, get a new one and swap it at the same time. You can check it by heating up in a pan with a ther...

Re: Engine cranking, no start, cam sprockets not turning

You may have a stuck thermostat causing your fan issues. Best to sort it as it is now not getting hot enough, and putting extra strain on cooling fan and alternator. Wow. I put back the relay wiring as it is, and checked by removing the thermostat electrical connector. The fan kicked in. Thanks. No...

Re: Engine cranking, no start, cam sprockets not turning

The cooling fan didn't kick in at 95. So I put the AC (what I usually do to keep the engine cool), but that didn't help too.... How does that work? I would expect putting the AC on would require the engine to work harder, turning the compressor and generating additional electric power for the fan. ...
