Hi Sid I'm no expert but that connector looks a little bit like the connector that plugs into the reverse light switch that screws into the gearbox, which is around where you found the wire. Thanks for the Link Ian, I am fortunate enough to have a hard copy of the manual for the car. i will be trying the procedure again, maybe i can get the system to lock and to see exactly where the leak is coming from. or i should just quit and do the sensible thing and take it to a local Peugeot spec...

well i had some time today to fiddle with the trunk lid latches. I tried both tightening and untightening the cables but to no avail. .it will not go into place.. no amount of leverage from screw driver could get it to lock. No amount of swearing helped either. The Roof System on the GF's 206 isn't working due to a rear quarter light regulator that is most likely in need of rebuilding or replacing. unlatching the 2 cabin latches i would get the beeping that the roof was ready to lower, well i lowered the roof manually so i could have look at all the swiitc...
