Re: Rear Struts or bearings
Just an update too all, I've fitted new rear struts. I was hopeful this would solve the issue because the old ones would compress but they didn't return so they needed replacing anyway. Took it for a spin and no different really. Still bottoms out and I really can't get my hand behind the wheel on t...

Re: Rear Struts or bearings
I was wondering that myself. And hoping to be honest. The struts do look a mess but so does everything else under there but I'm figuring if I'm going to change the axle I would want to put new struts on there while I'm under there so I'm going to do the struts first and see if it fixes it. If not, r...

Re: Rear Struts or bearings
Lol... I might just do this myself then. I'm pretty well tooled up but are there some female torx sockets required. That's probably the only thing I don't have.
Unless you want to come round and help me out Capncol??? lol.
Cheers guys.

Re: Rear Struts or bearings
Hi Col, I'm pretty handy with a hammer and I'd like to do the job myself but its all about access. I've only got a trolly jack and axle stands. I'm 48 and overweight and don't fancy rolling around on the drive way for hours. If it were a 3 to 4 hour job I could probably manage that though. I'm not s...

Re: Rear Struts or bearings
Thanks Gazza, Yeh it's strange that this isn't an MOT failure. Ours was MOT'd only two months ago and the problem was there then. I'm sure it affects the stability as well because the car feels a bit 'wavy' round long fast corners. Anyone know how my hours labor I'll get charged for this job. I'd pr...

Rear Struts or bearings
Good afternoon all, We've just spent £800 on the front end of our 55 206cc 1.6 to get it through it's MOT but they never mentioned the rear end so I'm presuming it safe to drive?? However, I noticed that whenever we go over a big bump the rear end clonks quite loud and feels like it's bottoming out....

Re: Bottom wishbone issues
Thanks for the tip Slo, I'll remember that next time I do any work on peugeots. To be fair though, the amount of work that needed doing for the MOT I'm glad I let the garage take over. It's all done now and should, hopefully, last the life of the car. Back end, I'm not so sure about though. It's loo...

Re: Bottom wishbone issues
Just to close off this post properly.... I ended up taking the car to my local. It was also due an MOT and it failed on just about everything on the front end. I now have new wishbones both sides. New springs both sides. New offside side baring. Track rod ends. anti roll bars. Cost me the grand sum ...

Thank you very much gazza82.
I think I'll give it another go before sending it off to the garage.
Cheers

So do I need to release the AntiRoll Bar before I can get the wishbone ball joint out?
Cheers all.

Re: Bottom wishbone issues
Anti Roll Bar? No.. I didn't disconnect it. Have I been really stupid . I'm sure though, the a/r bar isn't connect to the wishbone? is it? If it is I'm going to hit myself with a blunt object.

Bottom wishbone issues
Afternoon All, Last week I spent almost a whole day trying to get the bush on the wishbone out of the hub carrier as I was going to change the wheel bearings on both sides. I'm not a mechanic by an means but I'm pretty clued up or at least I thought I was. The top bush came out easy with a tap of th...

Re: Handbrake cable replacement. Easy job?
Thanks Col,
I'll have a look at it this weekend. Depending on weather of course. I have a garage but that's reserved for my GSXR 1000

Handbrake cable replacement. Easy job?
Good afternoon all and happy new year. Got home last night, went to pull the handbrake on and... snap... the lever ended up almost 90 degree up in the air. My car is a 55 1.6 petrol 206cc The handbrake still holds but I've left it in gear and wheels turned towards the curb should it move. I suspect ...
