Re: Side light operation fault

Update -
I went back to garage to challenge them on the MOT failure, asking why it failed. They couldn't really give me a proper answer and they got defensive and aggressive. I went to another garage instead and they MOT'd it and it passed.

I'll go ahead and get the gearbox done.

Side light operation fault

Hi all, MOT failed on the operation of the side lights. When I turn the switch to the position for just side lights, both the side lights and headlights come on. What's causing this? Do I need to replace the whole indicator switch system or is there something else I need to do? I tried the bsi reset...

Re: "Howling" Noise

2 and a bit years later... I have this same howling noise. I just had a new clutch fitted. Surely a new clutch/throwout bearing kit etc suggests it isn't the throwout bearing causing the noise? It'd be a new part, it shouldn't be making suspicious noises like that. Other symptoms for me, it often re...

Re: Ignition kill switch

I watched a YouTube video that detailed how to involve the horn too. I decided not to go for that though because I'll probably forget a few times and I can't imagine the neighbours would enjoy that... Haha

Re: Ignition kill switch

Col, I admit I'm not an expert on how these things work, however, what should be clear is my desire to learn. My "basic questions" are to enable that. With Ian's comments here, I'm learning more about this wiring. In the time you took to attempt to deter me from my ambition, you could have...

Re: Ignition kill switch

Thanks for your reply Ian. Found a relay that would do it, rated at 40A. Found a switch, wires, etc. As for connectors, I'm not sure what to do regarding connecting the (up to 30A) BF07 wire to the relay. The relay has blade terminals of width 6.3mm. Would the yellow crimp connectors be suitable for...

Ignition kill switch

Hi all (mine is an '04 1.6 petrol) I'd like to install an ignition kill switch. I'm not too worried about theft, but I like to tinker and find these challenges fun. Looked under the steering wheel at the ignition wires, poked a few with the multimeter with different key positions. There's a thick or...

Re: Wheel change from 16" to 15".

I got a 175/65/R14 from a 206. It just about fits. There's about 3mm between it and the caliper.

The difference in diameter is 2.1% from my other wheels, 205/40/R17.

I have it secured in the boot, towards the back of the car. Still got an inch or two under the blind.

Re: Wheel change from 16" to 15".

Hello,

I'm looking at buying a spare wheel. I don't want a space saver. Just want to ask the infinite wisdom of this forum, will a 175/65/R14 wheel from a 206 hatch fit on my CC? Are all the hub sizes/offsets/stud patterns the same across all 206 models?

Thanks!
George

Re: Starting issues

Hi Sid

I'm no expert but that connector looks a little bit like the connector that plugs into the reverse light switch that screws into the gearbox, which is around where you found the wire.

Might be worth just running a very quick check, do your reverse light work?

Re: Puddle lights - help with my relays please

Done! I wired it all up, drilled all the holes, it works really nicely. I used the 'metal bodied switch' from 12voltplanet. I placed them on the front door pillars close to the rubber casings for the wire looms. Very pleased

Re: New member and question

This whole palava about the battery, is it really this important to do this proper procedure? Hadn't heard of it at all before I got my cc. Before I knew about this procedure, I disconnected the battery, reconnected, no issues. Never tried the procedure, haven't had a need to disconnect/reconnect ba...

Re: Wing Mirror Question

When I eventually get round to getting a new mirror from eBay, I think I'll post it here so you helpful friendly lot can confirm it's the right one with me. I found a few on eBay, one looked exactly right (orange plug, looked the same as mine when I took it off). Another, also advertised as the cc v...

Re: Wing Mirror Question

I broke my driver's side mirror the other day due to forcing it a bit and it becoming weaker and weaker over time.
