Right hand top engine mount removal
Hi, I'm changing the cambelt on my wifes 2005 206CC and as part of the process the engine mount bracket has to be removed. In doing this I have discovered the engine mount has split in two so needs replacing. The problem is I can't seem to find any way to get at the lower bolt holding the mount to t...

Re: Tickover a bit lunpy
Planet won't tell you if you have a slight mechanical fault such as a low compression. Maybe start with comp test. and test for inlet air leaks. Sorry should have mentioned I already did a compression test, all cylinders measured roughly the same. Haven't checked for air leaks though so will give t...

Tickover a bit lumpy
On my wifes 206 the tick over is a bit lumpy which means you have to give it a few little extra revs to avoid it stalling. I have just given it a service (plugs, filters, oil) but it's no different. Planet doesn't report any problems and other than at tickover the engine sounds and performs great. A...

Re: Track Rod Replacement
Thanks Col for the reply. I bought one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141858129482?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT as it was half the price and can't really see me ever using it again. The job was straight-forward but the track-rod end wouldn't budge and needed hea...

Track Rod Replacement
Hi all, My wifes 206cc has just failed the MOT because of a bent track rod (Offside). I went to have a go at changing it today but I couldn't see any way to get the old one off. It is bolted on to the steering rack but there is no obvious way of unbolting it. The new one has slots so you can put a s...

Re: Clutch problem
Oops forgot to reply. I changed the clutch and thrust bearing and the car is now great. Hill starts are now no longer a problem and the clutch pedal is so much smoother. Job was fairly straight-forward, had trouble getting the gearbox back in on my own until I used ratchet straps over the rafters in...

Clutch problem
On my wifes 206cc the clutch is like 90% nothing and then bang 10% everything at the top of the pedal. She has got used to it now but I'm just wondering if this is definitely the clutch being at the end of its useful life or a hydraulics problem. Also there is a wining when the engine is idle and th...

MOT history
I found a really useful and fun Government website where you can enter a cars reg no and see the full MOT history, mileage and advisories/failures. If you're buying a used car or want to see your cars history then this could be useful. It's also fun to enter cars you have sold on to see if they are ...

Re: New 206CC project! lots of issues!
Put 24 volts into a 12 volts car and the damage will be severe. The fact that fuses are blowing just means the components on the other end of the fuses are fried and drawing too much current (most likely a dead short) Does the car start and run? You really need to get a diagnostic done to see which ...

Re: Oil Pressure & Catalytic Converter message...
You haven't said if your car is a petrol or diesel but overfilling a diesel with oil can result in engine runaway. This is where the oil gets into the piston and the car will over run at max revs until the all the engine oil is consumed and your left with a seized engine. As said above, overfilling ...

Why not just pop the roof down and turn the heater on full. Obviously doesn't work as well when it's raining

Re: Door mirrors as rare as rocking horse poo
In the end I opted for a repair which I did by stripping the whole thing down and using a number of cable ties. Now it looks and works as good as new. Saved myself £60

Door mirrors as rare as rocking horse poo
On my wifes 206cc the door mirror had seized in the past and someone has forced it in and broke it. Ordered one off ebay which looked the same (had the same Orange plug) but when it arrived it doesn't fit. The one I have has a metal mount with Orange plug and has a slightly different panel to all th...

Re: peugeot 206 headache !!!
Rather than guessing what the problem is and just changing random components it would be cheaper and easier to get a scan done of the car to see if it flags up any issues. This can be done either at a main stealer or some members (including myself) have access to this kit and could do it for you. I ...
