Re: Does 2001 1.6petrol manual have smart charge?

Just as a final followup and thank you for all the help. I got the old unit (denso) off, pulled the cover and the adaptor plate off, then the brush holder/regulator. Not as easy as it sounds as there was a fair amount of something like silicone sealant glueing much of those bits together. It's not o...

Re: Does 2001 1.6petrol manual have smart charge?

Thanks yet again Col. My initial thought was brushes probably gone, but without a wiring diagram it was guesswork and I'd have hated to fiddle about with taking off the belt and PS pump to find it was a blown fuse...now I know, I'll get stuck in first chance I get. Thanks again, really is much appre...

Re: Does 2001 1.6petrol manual have smart charge?

Sorry to be back again with another question. Finally got 10 min with the car today. The alternator has a two pin connector on it, with two wires, one red and one I think white or possibly pale green/grey. (poor light). Connector fits into a socket which has a housing roughly square with rounded cor...

Re: Does 2001 1.6petrol manual have smart charge?

Yes...I have a Mazda 6, according to handbook dealer job to change dip beam bulb (bumper off, light out). I'm an old bloke and not small but I can get a hand in (just). Sometimes overcautious. But sometimes - good grief. Had a look at repair guide, doesn't look too bad. (Flw)... Thanks very much ever...

Re: Does 2001 1.6petrol manual have smart charge?

Thank you for that. It may be the tensioner. Not had any reports of noise or heavy steering but will look at that first. Are worn out tensioners a common issue on these engines? Its got about 110k on it so no spring chicken. As for accessible, not looked yet... Can't be worse than some luxury modern...

Re: Does 2001 1.6petrol manual have smart charge?

Thanks very much Col. I'll follow my nose in that case. Do you happen to know if the control electronics are on the alternator or separately mounted please? I've seen a reference somewhere to a control unit on top of the inner wing, iirc... I noticed one battery supplier specified calcium, wondered ...

Does 2001 1.6petrol manual have smart charge?

Hi. My daughter has a 206cc, 1.6 petrol manual,51 plate preplex. Yesterday it lit the battery symbol and popped up a charge warning message. I'm hoping to have a look tomorrow. Seen some suggestions that it may have smart charge, linked by a single wire that carries bidirectional comms. Does anybody...

Re: abs light go out when fixed?

Final update to thank everybody and just sum up. I hate it when people don't do this, it feels very ungrateful. Long story short - car went in for not yesterday, and passed after a light unit had contacts cleaned. On the very early abs, the sensor resistance is about 1040 ohms - original and ecp uni...

abs light go out when fixed?

Hi again. Does anybody know if abs light always goes off once problem is fixed please? I found a reference on thebford Scorpio site which says teves mk20 needs a reset for hard faults like disconnected sensors. Not sure if 2001 car has mk20 ? Also wondering if sensors are active? If they are, guessi...

Re: Owner's Handbook - early model

Hi and thanks very much for the reply I did look at the Peugeot handbook site, but they don't give a link for earliest cars -at least that's what i assume the problem is. Earliest one is 01-12-2001, and it shows what i assume is the later unit. I tried the online manual access a couple of days ago, ...

Owner's Handbook - early model

My daughter's car was first reg early Jan 2002, but the engine compartment fusebox layout doesn't match the one in the forum download or the Peugeot site, guessing it was an earlier build. Does anybody have a link to one where this fuse box is bsm b3 please? Wiring diagram would be great also. Looki...

Rear disk pad fit.

Fitted new (Eicher) pads to my daughters 1.6 petrol (1st reg start January 02) rear brake yesterday. This was because the pip on the old pad was atop the piston, not in the slot. I blamed the place that fitted them, but... New pads, the pip only just engages with the outer edges of the slot. It's wo...

Re: abs sensor spin test and cleaning

Thanks very much for that. I know a scanner would be by far the best way to go, wish I'd bought one before. Will try and find one locally. I was just hoping i might get lucky with an easy sensor check. All good fun! Thanks again, such appreciated.
