Well, I can confirm that it was simply the horn which had broken - not even the connections - replacement horn now safely attached to the car, and tooting away!

I have tkaen the airbag off - it was really difficult as there is only 1 hole to help move the clips - in fact, it took me the longer to take that off than taking off a speed sensor! My horn is exactly the same.... I have checked the fuse, and that's ok. I don't know if it clicks or not. I don't know how to check if the airbag work - there are no airbag warning lights on. So I need to suspect 1. take the horn out and plug it in somewhere - can I use some wire from the car batter...
