Re: Should I scrap or rebuild?

I think I went the right way because I think I will still have £400 cash at the end of the rebuild plus I will still have a lot of decent parts from the donor car, I will be picking the best parts from both cars to hopefully make a better car than I had before. And the experience of the rebuild. I ...

Re: Should I scrap or rebuild?

Thanks for your thoughts. I have decided to rebuild. I have bought a donor car for £450 this morning, different colour though, that has a blown engine and the boot will not open, but its in lovely condition. The donor car has a full stainless exhaust too. I have already stripped all the body parts f...

Should I scrap or rebuild?

Yesterday some clown let her 10 year old daughter play in their Landrover Discovery, as a result it rolled about 40 metres down a shallow hill and smashed into the front of my 206cc. As expected she didn't want to go through insurance company and has already paid me £1600 cash to repair or replace t...

Driving songs?

Just looking for inspiration for a new mix of songs when I take the little Pug out this weekend.

If you just had one song, what would it be?

I play The Faces - "Ooh La La" a lot when out and about.

207CC - buyers guide?

My 206cc is getting a little long in the tooth now and I'm looking at a newer model. To be able to get a car as modern as I need will mean turning to the 207cc, a car just out of warranty, a 2010/11. There are quite a few for sale and as the summer begins to fade I am hoping for a better deal. Does ...

Clicking front passenger wheel.

OK, I have had this annoying clicking noise coming from the passenger wheel for a few months. The clicking noise gets faster as the car speed increases, then after 10mph you cannot hear it anymore. Today I changed the bearing and the CV joint (because I previously had to glue ABS ring on when it sna...

Re: rear quarter window sticking convertable

I had this panel off earlier today. To work on the window, wait for a good day, drop the roof to make life easier, you will need to remove rear seats and there are 2 panels each side will need to be removed. You will then be faced with the usual white foam covering which you will have to remove to b...

Re: Exhaust rattle

I had this problem when I bought my car, I suspected a heatshield, but alas it was the cat. My rattle used to appear at about 2500 rpm, but used to improve as the exhaust system heated up. I paid £155 for a new cat to be fitted and the problem went away.

Re: Rear speakers fitting

OK done the job today, and to be honest you don't need to remove the back seats. The whole job took me about an hour I guess. Its far easier if you drop the roof, then remove the top plastic part where the rear windows are, unhook the top part of the rear seats to make life a little easier, then you...

Re: Retrofit JBL Sub

My car doesn't have a sub either. I recently took out the bootliner as I had a water issue and I didn't notice any wiring harness or any spare electrical connections. However when I fitted a new head unit there was wires for a sub behind the dashboard, so in theory it shouldn't be too hard to trace ...

Re: Multiplex Bypass Lead

I have fitted a Sony stereo with just a stalk adaptor and wiring loom adaptor. Had a great deal in Halfords because both the adpators were in the clearance bin for just 99p each. If I'm honest the Sony stereo fit OK, but could use a fascia adaptor if your a perfectionist.

Re: cambelt etc

Thats a great price. I had just timing belt and tensioners done last year and it cost me £240 with a Gates kit by using a local mechanic. The job took about 5 hours because there isn't any room in the engine bay and he had to tilt the engine just a tad to make live a little easier.

Re: Rear speakers fitting

Well I am just going to start stripping down the car now, hopefully it won't take too long. The seats are stupidly easy to take out and I should be able to get around not removing the seatbelts.

Re: Rear speakers fitting

Cheers Gazza. Yup they are not Peugeot speakers but I have a connection block adapter.

I was hoping there maybe a short cut, but it looks like it will take some time to do a simple job :)
