Re: E85
Hi Spitfire, the alcohol helps to remove the water by turning it to acid, though my experience of running cars on Cleveland Discol in the 60's never gave any additional corrosion problems - and there were a lot of them in those days (most vehicles being positive earth didn't help matters. imo).

It's equivalent to 2 cups of gin thrown into every gallon. Pity they don't sell it as separates.

According to HM Gov website, all Peugeot petrol engines from year 2000 onward are not effected by E10 petrol. E5 will continue to be available from some service stations.

Re: Rear Headrests (roll bars) removal
It was a long time ago that I fitted these to my vehicle, but I remember it being one of the easiest of tasks. It wasn't until I'd finished the job, that I thought about the safety implications for rear seat passengers smacking their heads against these things. It turned out to be of no consequence ...

Re: VIN number?
Was there not something about design updates for future models being implemented in the current production? In other words, some 2004 models could have been manufactured in 2003 - possibly? I remember that it took me ages of research to find my ORGA number, in order to get the correct spares.

Re: Handbrake not holding
I put up with this problem for over a year (not much fun with an automatic), despite garage replacing discs and pads and doing all the adjustments. Then a clever MOT man spotted a bit of rust on a cable at the handbrake lever end. Removal of the cable showed that it was badly corroded under the bell...

Re: MOT Fail
They do seem to score easily compared to other vehicles I've owned. The pads start life quite thin too, so my policy has been to fit new discs and pads at the same time.

Re: MOT Fail
Love the new spelling of "reservoir" in the advisories. Just can't get the staff these days. Hope the repairs are to a better standard. Head lamps are easy.

Re: YAY! Through Another MOT
I managed to get my 52 plate through MOT this week too. It didn't fail on anything, and I did no preparation. Due to shielding and lockdown, the poor thing had only done 60 miles since the last test! Regarding radius arms - is that front, or rear? If front, then treat them like tyres - always replac...

IMO Batso, you could be wrong. The fluid that you have found seems to be for power steering. Have a look at this Oz web site, they have the Aral stuff listed. www.lubricants-ils.com.au

Lovely Car
About last November, I went into voluntary lockdown for the winter. Then the China plague arrived so I've been shielding ever since. Two weeks ago a friend took the flat battery out of the car without observing any of the special procedures. I charged the battery up and a neighbour carried it back t...
